John B. Weller

John studied photography under William Neill in Yosemite National Park. He has had 14 one-man shows and is represented by galleries in California and Colorado. A graduate of Stanford University, John is based on Boulder, Colorado.

John will be photographer-in-residence on two North Pole voyages on 50 Years of Victory from July 6 to August 4, 2008.

John’s book Great Sand Dunes National Park: Between Light and Shadow was published in 2004, and won the 2004 “Best Book Mountain Image Award” at the Banff Book Festival.

John was honored by National Geographic Magazine this week. His photo of a penguin, taken aboard our icebreaker Kapitan Khlebnikov, is featured on the magazine’s website. It may appear familiar to you. It is the photo we chose for the cover of our Antarctica 2008-2009 brochure.
