
Phil Algar, Manager, Hotel Operations
Phil studied cookery and hospitality at Waikato Technical Institute in Hamilton, New Zealand. After qualifying as a Chef he worked in various hotels and restaurants throughout New Zealand before leaving to work in the South Pacific on Norfolk Island and later Dunk Island in far North Queensland. Phil also spent time working as a Station Chef for Australian National Antarctic Research Expeditions at Davis station and Macquarie Island, where he spent 14 months on base.
In 1996, after spending 5 years catering functions in Perth, Phil succumbed to his desire for adventure and joined Quark Expeditions. In his current position of Hotel Manager he moves between vessels, providing support and training for each of our Hospitality Teams. Home is now Fremantle, Western Australia.
